Thanks to the generous support from individuals, families and organizations and most especially the blessing of God, Bon Samaritan Canada now has its first Haitian village, Sault d'eau, fully supported. This support includes a fully funded pastor, paid teachers and food for the 400 children now attending the school in Sault d'eau.
In April Bon Samaritan Canada brought Pierre Belzince to Canada for a face to face meeting. Communications with Peirre in Haiti can be difficult at times and Piere wanted to provide us with some proposals, and update and a video he shot to show us how the church and school were progressing. Pierre told us of some challenges he is currently facing in Sault d'eau including a 40% increase in the cost of rice, the need to expand the school to facilitate food storage, an office and a home for the pastor and finally the ongoing concern of clean drinking water in the village (currently acquired from up the mountain).

Bon Samaritan Canada has agreed to provide the following support for these issues:

  1. Paying the salary for Head Pastor Parent in the village of La Digue

  2. Paying the salaries for a male and female seamstress to provide clothes for the children in Sault D'eau.

  3. $5,000 for the construction of an addition to the school that will provide a 12'x12' food storage room, a 12'x12' office that will also be used as a home for the school custodian and a 12'x12' room that will serve as a home for the pastor and his wife.

  4. Continued fund raising for the creation of a pipeline to carry clean drinking water from the mountain to the village. Pierre has estimated this will cost $10,000 - $12,000.
